When we imagine the ideal packaging for a no-rinse volumizing dry shampoo powder, what comes to mind is...

To be both and not to be greedy, check out the latest example of UDN Mist Tubes' collaboration with a niche British sustainable hair care brand!
How can mist tubes solve the pain points of traditional aerosol product packaging while creating the "relaxed, zero-waste, transformative" brand tone of sustainable brands?
We interviewed UDN CEO & Mist Tube Designer Hubert Wang to reveal the story behind this creative and eco-friendly packaging.

What was the inspiration for the development of the Mist Tube and what was the original design?

Originally inspired by spray bottles from the children's market. It utilizes the bottle's own resilient structure to dispense liquid quickly, and is easy and fun to operate.
We were wondering if this structure could be implemented in a tube package to meet the demand for portable disinfectant cleansing and facial moisturizing and hydrating products.
Because the mainstream aerosol product packaging on the market at the time, most of the aluminum bottle with a nozzle or a spray pump similar to perfume, focusing on the atomization effect and the control of the spray volume, but they are slightly bulky and inconvenient to carry and recycling.
The idea was to simplify this structure while retaining the core function - the delicate spray effect - but in a more environmentally friendly and efficient way.

Fog tube is a one-piece simple design, tube head and body molded in one piece, open the cap is used, the design itself is not easy to leak. The design itself is not easy to leak. Putting it in the bag can be assured that the "punch", peace of mind portable.
Moreover, instead of relying on metal springs for fogging and adding complex propellants generally used in the market, the Thin Mist Tube relies on the unique physical construction of the tube head and the fun pinch and pinch method to achieve an elegant and delicate fogging effect.
Compared with bottle and can aerosol packaging, users can easily use up the capacity of the inner material, with a clear sense of dosage and less residual waste.
These designs ensure that the brand's users are kept at ease throughout the entire process, and that the brand's sustainable philosophy and practices of "easy, zero-waste, and transformative" are communicated to the user in every detail.
What are the core advantages of mist tubes over traditional packaging for aerosol-based products?

First, the pipe head and body are molded in one piece, with no metal spring parts, and a variety of environmentally friendly materials such as sugarcane material can be used to flexibly reduce plasticity and weight.
Secondly, since no flammable and explosive boosters are used, it reduces the safety hazards, and the powder and liquid are universal, so the airplane and high-speed railroad can be carried without any worry.
It's a convenient and refreshing way to protect yourself from the sun and hydrate your makeup anytime, anywhere, and it's become one of the brand's highlights when it comes to elaborating on the product's features.
Third, the use of a single material for the pipe body and head makes it easy to recover and achieve more efficient recycling.
The brand we're working with is a British sustainable hair care brand that focuses on being "relaxed, zero-waste and transformative". In your opinion, what value does UDN provide to them?

The Mist Tube provided a packaging solution that was a perfect fit with the brand's philosophy and even gave the brand a new angle of inspiration for storytelling.
They shot a very creative advertising video showing a mist tube from which dry hair powder is dispensed. The presentation was unexpected and impactful for consumers, as traditional tube packaging typically squeezes out a liquid or gel, but the combination of the mist tube and the dry hair powder product was environmentally friendly, broke through consumer expectations, differentiated the product in the marketplace, and created the brand's unique beauty of simplicity and sustainability.
Through clever product design, consumers can feel the brand's "transformative" charm from the packaging to the product.
That's why I believe that packages can assist brands in telling their stories, and good packages can even empower brand stories.

The designer said.
The mist tube is not only an innovative packaging practice, it also represents a new consumer concept that UDN advocates and pursues - environmental protection, simplicity and efficiency.
